The trailer is sold "as is, where is", with no warranty, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The Buyer has had the opportunity to inspect it and accepts it in its present condition.

What a trailer bill of sale should include

VIN or serial number (on the tongue or frame rail)
Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) – states use it to decide if a title is needed

After you both sign

Make two copies. Each side keeps a signed original or copy.
Hand over the title (if the trailer is titled), signed in the seller section.
Seller: remove plates if your state requires it and file any notice of sale.
Buyer: register and pay sales tax within your state's deadline, often 10–30 days.

Questions people ask

Do trailers need a title?

It depends on the state and the weight. Several states only title trailers above a set empty weight or GVWR; below that, a bill of sale and registration are enough. Check your state page.

What if the trailer has no VIN?

Homemade or very old trailers may have none. States usually require an inspection and assign a VIN; bring the bill of sale and any build receipts.
