Why each line matters

  • Names and addresses must match each person's ID.
  • VIN, HIN or serial ties the paper to one specific object.
  • Price in figures and words is what sales tax is based on.
  • Terms such as as is settle who pays if something breaks.

Questions people ask

What does a bill of sale look like?

A one-page document headed "Bill of Sale" with the seller and buyer, a description of the item (VIN or serial number), the price, the date, any terms like "as is", and signature lines for both parties.

What is an example of a simple bill of sale sentence?

"I, Maria Ortega, sell my 2016 Toyota Camry, VIN 4T1BF1FK3GU123456, to James Whitfield for $6,500, paid in cash on September 26, 2026, as is, with no warranty." That one sentence plus two signatures is a valid bill of sale.

Can I use an example as my bill of sale?

Use the examples to see what goes where, then fill in your own details in the generator. It formats everything, writes the price in words, and gives you a PDF.

What should not be on a bill of sale?

A false price, a blank buyer name, or promises you can't keep. Leave out Social Security numbers too; no motor vehicle office needs them on a bill of sale.
