Blank or filled in?

Print it blank if you're meeting a buyer and want to fill it in together. Bring two copies and a pen that doesn't smudge.

Fill it in first if you already know the buyer's details. It's easier to read, the price is written in words automatically, and the VIN check catches typos before they reach the DMV.

Need a form for a particular item? Use the car bill of sale, boat bill of sale or the simple bill of sale for anything else.

Printing tips

  • Letter paper, portrait. Margins are set for you.
  • Turn off "Headers and footers" in the print dialog for a cleaner page.
  • Sign in blue ink so originals are easy to tell from copies.

Questions people ask

Can I print a blank bill of sale?

Yes. Switch the preview to "Blank to print" and press Print. You get a clean form with lines for every field, ready to fill in by hand with the other party.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Press "Print / Save PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" (Chrome, Edge, Android) or "Save to Files" from the share sheet (iPhone and iPad). Only the document prints, not the website around it.

Can I edit it in Word?
