  • Health guarantee: how long, what it covers, what the remedy is

Questions people ask

Do puppy lemon laws apply?

About 20 states have "puppy lemon laws" letting buyers return or recover vet costs for a dog found sick shortly after sale; most apply to dealers and breeders who sell above a set number of litters. Put your own guarantee in writing either way.

Limited or full registration?

Limited AKC registration means offspring cannot be registered. If you sell on limited registration, say so in the bill of sale.
